The issue comes when I try and hook up the Saffire. Which all makes sense because the card is installed and 'working' as best as Windows can tell. 2 Port Firewire 1394B & 1 Port 1394A PCI Express 1.1 x1 Controller Card That's my card, which it does state has the XIO2213B chipset, and the product page also states that it's compatible with Windows 10. Figured that the PCIe to PCI bridge used for the legacy PCI slots might cause issues, but so far everything has worked flawlessly, even my old PCI Echo Gina 24. FW still offers excellent performance for realtime audio.Ĭuriously, I thought I try an old TI TSB12LV23 PCI FW card in the legacy PCI slot of my new 7700K Z170XP-SLI machine and it seems to work just fine with both my Saffire Pro 40 and TC Impact Twin under Windows 10. Further, the Saffires have better low latency performance than the USB Scarletts and perhaps even the Thunderbolt Claretts.

What is your current FireWire card? Does it have the XIO2213B chipset? I've encountered several people who found that installing a XIO2213B card instantly fixed their FW problems.

FW is a dead interface, unfortunately, I though I'd be able to use it for a few more years but with all this hassle, I don't know if it's worth it.What is your current FireWire card? I'm considering replacing the FW card, and possibly even just buying a new interface entirely, even though I just got this Saffire Pro 40 less than a year ago.
